4th West has one Community Coordinator (CC) and three Residential Life Assistants (RLAs) living on hall to support our residents during their time at NCSSM. Get to know a little bit about us here!
I am originally from Detroit, Michigan. I grew up as a youth poet in Detroit's slam poetry scene, performing all over the midwest in competitions and events of prestige. I've been sharpening my craft as a creative writer for the past 12+ years. I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a full tuition scholarship for poetry. While at UW, I studied Film and Afro-American Studies. I spent most of my time honing my crafts and expanding into new realms of my capacity as an artist. Upon my exit I was a fully fledged interdisciplinary artist who had gained significant traction in the realm of Theatre Arts, Filmmaking, Documentary and Curatorial Studies.
After college, I moved to the south. I spent a summer in New Orleans and Jamaica before heading to build a home here in Durham! I've lived in Durham for about 6 years now. I really love this city and the communities that make it what it is. I have seen the city transform overtime and I have seen myself shift right along with it!
In my time here in Durham I have grown as an artist, teacher, organizer, and facilitator of community spaces. I have held many leadership roles amidst various arts organizations, committing to serving the Durham community by curating community events and workshops that enrich and embolden the community! I also have a lot of experience in youth programming ~ creating spaces for young people to express themselves through dance, music, and poetry! Most recently, I was the Guest Curator for the Greenville Museum of Art's Winter '24 - '25 Exhibition.
I look forward to my time here at Science and Math! I am hoping to build a bridge between my love of creative community programming and supporting your students for the rest of the academic year.
Hi everyone! My name is Dylan Dees and I am excited to be one of your beautiful 4th West RLAs this year. I'm from Warrenton NC and attended the illustrious Henderson Collegiate High School before coming to NCSSM. I love all things chemistry and engineering, and plan to continue focusing my studies in it. At NCSSM, I take part in NSBE, BSU, and some other things. Other than the school things, I enjoy weightlifting, playing pickup sport games. I listen to all kinds of music from afrobeats, to older-style music up to Dreamville and Kendrick Lamar. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.
Hi! My name is Evan Pfeifer and I am very excited to be one of your RLAs on 4th West this year. I am from Greensboro and my home high school is the Early College at Guilford. Academically, I love math and engineering and would like to continue studying that. At NCSSM I am on the swim team and active in ARC Rocketry and FTC Robotics. For fun, I enjoy weightlifting, playing anything like sports or board games, playing video games, eating anything, and listening to music. I listen to everything from Frank Sinatra to Kendrick Lamar. I had a great time on 4th West last year and I can't wait to meet everyone and make 4th West stay on top!
